Getting income with a blog is the dream goal of many owners. It is an arduous goal, but there are many ways to monetize the traffic that passes through a blog. From different types of advertising to subscription models, through making content for brands.

In TreceBits we show you some of the ways with which you can earn money with a blog.

The first thing to know is that you can't get income from scratch. A blog requires a lot of work and maintenance, but once you have reached an acceptable volume of traffic, you can start thinking about ways to make a profit. The one that comes to mind first, certainly is the inclusion of advertising, but it is not the only way. Let's see:

-PPC networks : Pay-per-click networks (PPC) are usually the most common option, and within them, without a doubt, Google AdSense is the most common, but not the only one. The options offered by Yahoo! or Facebook's own service are also quite used.

Its operation is very simple: you just have to register and paste the HTML codes provided by the platforms into the blog source code. These will allow advertising based on blog content and traffic to be displayed, and will generate money for every click on an ad.

Of course, the amount of money obtained for each click is not very high, so high traffic will always be the best aid, although not the only one.

-PCM Ads: Another option to display advertising are the CPM ad networks (Cost per thousands of impressions). They work similarly to PPC networks, but the money will be earned for the specified number of times a banner is viewed. That is, every time a user visits a blog and sees a banner of this type, an impression will be added.

When several are obtained, for example thousand, depending on the platform that is used, a certain amount of income will be obtained. AdSense also works with this format, although there are other platforms such as DoubleClick or Clickio , which work with programmatic advertising. This type of advertising is that it is aimed at certain specific profiles, so that it seeks the greatest impact on the demographic objective assigned to it.

-Related Content : AdSense offers a service called Related Content, which is a free tool that provides recommendations for promoting content to visitors to a website. By offering readers more content that you are interested in, you can increase the number of page views on the website, the time spent on it, reader loyalty, ad impressions and, ultimately, advertising revenue.

Google estimates that related content recommendations increase the number of page views and time spent on the website by 9% and 10% respectively. Google is not the only platform that offers related content. There are other platforms, like Toobola or Outbrain that offer related content at the end of the articles.

-Direct advertising : Advertising can also be inserted without any intermediaries, that is, by directly contacting the companies that would be willing to advertise on a blog. In these cases, as it is something much more direct, you generally get more money, although you have to have a good and fairly segmented audience. Various modalities can be offered, from display advertising (traditional banners) to the possibility of sponsoring a specific section, sending a weekly newsletter to the database ….

-Sales by affiliation: Another method of obtaining income is the sale by affiliation . Basically it consists of using the blog or web as a showcase for the products of another page. Amazon, for example, uses this system. The blog owner gets income every time a purchase is made through his page, where he will show specific links in various ways: either recommending content, doing reviews, with banners …

-Sponsored Post: They can be sold directly to companies individually or as part of a branded content strategy. If you do not want or can resort to direct sales there are platforms such as Publisuites, which are responsible for acting as intermediaries and in which companies can buy sponsored posts to a series of blogs whose owners have registered.

-Content on social networks: There are platforms that allow you to register your social networks or blogs to be used as showcases in various campaigns. This is the case of SocialPubli, a platform dedicated to influencer marketing, which publishes advertising on paid blogs and social networks.

-Video content: If the blog incorporates video content, these can be a perfect platform to insert advertising. There are various companies that pay the blogger to place different types of advertising (for example, interleaved or preroll) in the videos hosted on the blog. In WordPress there are several plugins to insert advertising in videos: Video Advertising for VC, Ultimate Player …

You can also depend on third-party services in which the videos are hosted. YouTube would be the classic example, with its Partners program. Facebook also has a similar system, although in these cases the economic revenue falls mostly on content creators who are dedicated almost exclusively to making videos.
